The UT of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu on July 16, 2025, issued Mandatory Bye-laws Amendment for Co-operative Societies in Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu.
Following the enactment of the Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu Co-operative Societies Regulation, 2024 (effective December 30, 2024), and the subsequent Co-operative Societies Rules, 2025, all registered co-operative societies in the Union Territory are now mandated to amend their bye-laws. This directive aims to align existing bye-laws with the new legal framework, ensuring the validity and smooth functioning of these societies.
To facilitate this, societies must follow a specific procedure for submitting their amendment proposals to the concerned registering authority. This process, outlined in Section 13 of the Regulation and relevant Rules, requires societies to call a general meeting (AGM or SGM) with due notice to all members. A resolution for amendment must be passed by at least two-thirds of the members present and voting, provided a quorum is met.
Following the resolution, the proposal, including the amended bye-laws, resolution copy, notice, and last annual report, must be furnished to the Registrar within two months. The deadline for submitting these proposals to the Assistant Registrar of Co-operative Societies in the respective district is August 31, 2025.
